CoLab combines a full day of educational content with 2 half days on either side to discover the host city's coffee community and culture.  For CoLab: Prague we developed an exciting program, in collaboration with Coffee Embassy.

Thursday May 21 | The first sip

We will start off in the afternoon - giving you plenty of time to fly in - and welcome you from 3:30pm at Cafe Jedna. While you have the time to catch up or meet your local hosts for the night, we enjoy a cup of coffee and chat about the program for the next couple of days. As the caffeine kicks in and the sun sets, we are headed towards the Vltava river for a discovery of Prague from the water, after which we leave you to head out for dinner with new and old friends in one of Prague’s many exciting (modern or traditional) eateries.

Friday May 22 | The body

Rise and shine! After breakfast with your hosts, at your hotel, or in a local cafe, head towards the northeast of Prague to the Národní Technická Knihovna (NTK), our venue for the day. Here, we’ll be hosting Tamper Tantrum with a series of inspiring speakers, inviting dialogue and passionate discussion. We're delighted to announce the coffee luminaries who will take the stage at NTK:

  • Chahan Yeretzian, Applied University of Zurich (Zurich, Switzerland)
  • Adam Neubauer, EMA Espresso Bar (Prague, Czech Republic)
  • Erna Tosberg, roestbar (Münster, Germany)
  • Tibor Várady, Espresso Embassy (Budapest, Hungary)
  • Christopher Hendon, University of Bath (Bath, UK)
  • Joanna Alm, Drop Coffee (Stockholm, Sweden)

Each speaker will give a 20 minute presentation, which will be followed by a 20 minute Q&A with the audience. Speakers will also take part in panel discussions, led by Tamper Tantrum co-host Steve Leighton (HasBean) and guest co-host, Kalle Freese (Freese Coffee Co), a member of the BGE working group and key driver in its educational content plans.

Over lunch we get the opportunity to discover what's brewing in Prague. By way of a cupping, participating cafes offer an overview of locally roasted coffees.

Tamper Tantrum continues in the afternoon with more talks and panel discussions, making sure we have plenty of 'food for thought' over dinner, and on the dance floor at Cafe Jedna.

Saturday May 23 | The aftertaste

Sadness, we’ve already arrived at the final day of CoLab, but we don’t want to send you off without a proper cafe tour. We’ve worked together with local guides to let you choose amongst several options, each of them approaching Prague from a different angle. From the historical background, over street art, or through the eyes of a homeless person — whichever you chose, it will leave you with a closer connection to, and a better understanding of Prague and its people. Wandering through the wonderful streets of Prague and along its majestic buildings while making time to enjoy the wonderful coffee certainly does sound like the perfect start to the weekend.
