Barista Support | Califia Farms at London Coffee Festival

Califia Farms require baristas to help man their booth at London Coffee Festival this 6-9 April.

Califia Farms are looking for a handful of baristas interested in working at the booth, paying a competitive hourly rate alongside providing a pass to the show. Ideally, these baristas would be available at least two days of the show, but some flexibility is possible. Baristas should demonstrate basic knowledge of espresso preparation, extraction and troubleshooting, but Califia Farms are willing to work with baristas that are still learning so long as they are excited and eager to listen and learn

TED2016 | Vancouver, Canada

World Coffee Events (WCE) is looking for baristas to be part of the coffee service at TED2016, held in the city of Vancouver, Canada on 15-19 February, 2016. In the past, WCE has organised the coffee service, in close collaboration with Barista Guild of America, and for the first time, we are excited to work together with WCE to extend the opportunity to members of the Barista Guild of Europe too.

TED is a global and renowned conference that brings together the most innovative and
important voices in technology, entertainment, and design (hence the acronym). The theme of its 2016 edition, is 'Dream'.

"Dreams matter. And TED2016 will be dedicated to the greatest dreams we are capable of dreaming. It will be a week to stare hard at humanity’s toughest challenges, to listen to our greatest thinkers, artists and storytellers. A week to stir the blood."
— TED2016 website

WCE is looking for top-notch baristas who are highly skilled at making coffee as well as customer service, who're passionate about sharing specialty coffee and engaging with customers, and who remain friendly and professional in all circumstances. Priority is given to BGE/BGA members who can prove experience through (CDS) certification, have a good history in volunteerism and who're available for the whole program.

While participation is voluntary, and WCE doesn't cover for your travel (why not crowdfund it?), we think this is an amazing opportunity for our members to develop your skills and be part of the international coffee community. Let's dare to 'dream' of the TEDexperience that awaits you: You'll be working alongside a team of truly professional baristas in the world, serving exceptional coffee, sharing your passion for quality coffee with innovators, leaders, luminaries. You'll be rewarded with a greater network of likeminded baristas, greater skills, an enlightened passion for quality coffee, an engagement to share our story - and an opportunity to meet some of the most funniest, challenging, and though-provoking voices of our time.

"For me, the big take away was simply being a part of the larger moment. TED attracts entrepreneurs, environmental leaders, educators, angel investors, supply chain developers, techies, foodies, artists and a million things in between. I couldn’t help but think; how can we partner with these intellectual superstars? [...] It was an honor to serve, but we need a larger voice. We need leaders. We need innovators. We need a team who can engage with global thought leaders beyond serving them exceptional cups of coffee. We need to ignite their passion and convince them that our priorities are theirs."
— Richard Sandlin — TED2013 barista
"Coffee at TED2014 is the most fun and enjoyable coffee experience I’ve been a part of. A constant flow of energy pulses through the space you are in. It is infectious."
— Jonathan Paul Doerr — TED2014 barista

We're looking for coffee ambassadors who're ready to step out of their comfort zone, to take their skills to the next level, to build community and networks, to connect with other baristas as well as with the audience, to engage each customer in line - all while making excellent coffee, consistently and on repeat.

Are you a TEDbarista?

*Baristas are requested to arrive in Vancouver no later than the evening of 13th Feb to attend the Welcome Dinner. Training and set-up takes place on the 14th and the service runs from 15th-19th.
